Texas’ Hispanic population is higher than ever, UT enrollment has yet to reflect change

According to the latest data released by the U.S. Census Bureau on July 1, the shifting demographics highlight the growing influence of the Hispanic/Latinx community and solidify its position as the Lone Star State’s largest ethnic group.

The shift follows a slow increase in the Hispanic population over the decades. In July 2022, Hispanic Texans comprised 40.2% of the state’s population. The new data shows Latinos outnumber white Texans by about 129,000.

‘Texans deserve Planned Parenthood’: Planned Parenthood Texas Votes holds rally to advocate for abortion pill

Planned Parenthood Texas Votes held a “Bans Off Our Bodies Rally” in favor of making mifepristone, commonly known as the abortion pill, accessible for Texans last Friday.

Planned Parenthood Texas Votes is a policy advocacy group under the general umbrella of Planned Parenthood, according to their website.

Almost 900 protestors gathered at the Texas Capitol in opposition to U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk’s April 7 ruling to reverse the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s approval of mifepristone across the nation.

Ally accessibility platform allows students to access course material more easily as MP3, ePUB

As part of an initiative to improve accessibility for students and faculty, UT integrated the Ally accessibility platform into Canvas on Monday. Ally will provide additional formats for course materials that best support different learning styles — including HTML versions for smartphones, ePub versions for tablets and MP3 versions for audio and electronic braille versions.
